The Club was
formed on 15th March 1975, in response to an
advertisement in 'The Age' newspaper. by Peter &
Joy Richardson. 25 Wolseleys turned up, and a
Committee was formed straight away. It was decided
early on that a newsletter was necessary, and it was
decided to call it 'The Hornet'. It has been a total
success and is thriving today with a membership of
about 250. The club meets on the first Tuesday of the
month (except January) in the Camberwell Sub-Branch
RSL, 403 Camberwell Rd, Camberwell. The meeting
starts at 8.00pm and frequently has guest speakers on
various subjects, mostly dealing with information
relevant to Wolseley cars. Social events such as
Display Days, Rallies, BBQs are held at least once a
month, often meeting with other make clubs. Visitors
are welcome at any of these events and will find that
members are friendly and will help with information
and advice. Supper is served at the conclusion of the
meeting. The Club has an extensive library of
technical and non-technical books on hand which
members are able to borrow. Spare Parts are available
from the Club to assist members to keep their cars on
the road. This service is available because club
members volunteer to attend a working bee once a
month to dismantle cars that are no longer
roadworthy. A "Red Plate" scheme allows
members to use their cars for club events at a
fraction of the normal registration cost. Members may
have more than one car for this purpose. The Hornet
Newsletter is posted to members every month keeping
them in touch with news and activities of the club.
Membership is $30.00 per year for members living
within an 80 kilometre radius of Melbourne and $25.00
for country and interstate members.
